Mission Base Horn of Africa

The Horn of Africa is the eastern part of Africa that on the map looks like a horn. It includes Ethiopia, southern Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia and northern Kenya. It is a stronghold for Islam, but we know that God's heart in bleeding for this region, and we want nothing more than to preach Jesus to the people here.

Mission SOS has worked in eastern Ethiopia together with a local denomination since 2005. We've had 2 Signs & Wonders Festivals where thousands have been saved, healed and many delivered. During these years we have baptized around 400-500 people. In May 2008 we made a decision though to move the mission base from the city of Dire Dawa to the city of Harar, a little more east. We've felt the pioneer spirit in our hearts for a long time, to build something from scratch. So, we thanked the local denomination for a great time together and started to pray and seek God according to the word He had given us. In August the door opened to our mission base in Harar!

The vision God has given us for this place is the same. It's a three step vision:

1. Plant a strong mother church in the area.
2. Start a mission bible school.
3. Send out local missionaries to plant daughter churches.

God spoke to us about the Oromo, Afar and Somali people and we are here to give them the joy of the Lord that Jesus has given us!

Stand with us for the Horn of Africa, pray for us and help us build churches among these people groups.
